SERIOUS CASE OF BURNING AT MEXBOROUGH.
- On Thursday a little girl named Shenton, the daughter of
Mr. W. Shenton, engine-driver, Garden Street, Mexborough, was rather seriously
burned. The child, who is about four years old, had been left in the house
alone, and whilst washing herself in front of the fire the towel became
ignited, and she was soon enveloped in flames. A neighbour named Thompson,
hearing screams, ran to the girl’s assistance, and immediately rolled her in
the hearthrug, thus extinguishing the flames. The child received some severe
burns about the head, arms and upper part of the body.
